A Table d’Hôte in France has become a well established way to make a small to modest income in the tourist industry. Most of all running a Table d’Hôte is based on the passion to serve good food and the enjoyment of meeting people.

A Table d’Hôte in France has become a well established way to make a small to modest income in the tourist industry. Most of all running a Table d’Hôte is based on the passion to serve good food and the enjoyment of meeting people.

A Table d’Hôte is a reasonably defined business. However to where it becomes a restaurant is not clearly defined. It is possible to stretch the definition and make a Table d’Hôte look like a small restaurant.

In October 2005 the average price for a meal in “Table d’Hôte” style is in the range of € 10,- upto  € 20,- including a starter, main dish and desert. Drinks are usually included. Sometimes there’s a bit of choice in the menu but in general it’s the food being served for the day.

Starting a Table d’Hôte” is usually combined with a Chambre d’Hote.
